Sigh. Well, you can’t please everyone. And I guess I didn’t—not with Solstice, at any rate.
I was shooting for a Twilight Zone style T-Tale but maybe the change of pace was just too much for some readers.
Here’s the thing, though. I was shooting for a sci-fi horror story, and these reviews seem to suggest I hit the mark, for the horror part. It does have a scary ending and that’s what horror stories strive for.
By the way, the heroine of Solstice does make a sort of guest appearance at the end of my new book, The Night Festival. T-Tales are a shared universe, I guess.
At any rate, dear readers, take heed, I guess. Solstice has a scary ending. Proceed with caution.
