…of Short Stuff. A reader complains that soy supplements could not produce breast growth—even though that part of the story is based on my own personal experience.
Then this same reader complains that I don’t understand the difference between a cross-dresser and a transgender woman and suggests I learn more about the subject.
Sigh. Honey, that part is based on my own experience, too, and the experience of other trans women I know. It is common for us to begin our journeys with cross-dressing. Some of us just progress past that, while others apparently don’t.
Sometimes you just gotta shake your head and move on.

Some people criticize based on their belief that everyone’s experience must be the same as their own or, worse, what they believe a priori, observing from the outside. I am 76, grew up dealing with the rural midwest in the 1950s. Trans wasn’t even a thing. Didn’t even really come out until I was 57. Had big hands, big feet, broad shoulders, sang baritone and was balding. I guess that reviewer would say that I’m not trans. Ignore them. Love your work.
