Snowflakes…

One thing that strikes me, in multiple reviews of my books on Amazon, is the number of whiny complaints there are about perceived unfairness to conservatives and religion in my writing. I mean, the transphobia of so many conservatives and many, many religious leaders is so obvious and public that it is astonishing to me that these reviewers are bothered by the fact that my stories reflect this obvious truth.

And it’s an interesting illustration of the ability of the human mind to be in such a state of denial about this frothing transphobia. I mean, it’s obvious my books are about transgender people, so no one reads them and is surprised by this content. They obviously have an interest in the subject. Yet these critics are all outraged that my T-Tales reflect this widespread and very public transphobia on the Right and the Religious Right.

Sheesh. Denial is more than a river In Egypt, as they say.

  1. I don’t understand how someone reads a book they disagree with. They seem like voyeurs looking for something they want and need than complaining so they don’t feel ashamed.

    1. To be fair, most trans fiction I’ve seen doesn’t get into real world politics much so I expect many readers aren’t expecting to encounter that in a book of transgender fiction.

But I call ‘em as I see ‘em and in my books I strive for something more than the usual trans fiction tropes.

Wish fulfillment fantasy is fine and enjoyable but I find I inevitably write about more than that. I think some readers are surprised at that.
