The ratings for Yours Truly, Diane Woods, have changed again. Gone is that 1 Star rating, apparently removed by Amazon, for reasons known only to them, but supplanted by a new 5 Star rating, and an accompanying lovely review of the book by a reader:

I have always enjoyed Ms. Woods work. The writing and characters are well developed and real. There is an authenticity to the stories and characters. Reading her story puts her work into context. While I felt that I knew her from her books, this is a whole new dimension. Her life is amazing and I agree with the reviewer from France that I can’t wait to read the rest of the story.
As always, I am touched and humbled by such a response from a reader. It’s such a special feeling when a reader seems to really get what I was writing. And in this case, of course, my book is particularly close to my heart, as it’s my own personal “Transgender Tale”.
But I wonder what the deal was with that short-lived one star rating, and what prompted Amazon to remove it. I’ll likely never know. I know that my work isn’t to everyone’s taste, and bad reviews are part of the game that any creative person has to deal with, but this particular one seems like there was something unusual going on behind the scenes.
Of course, there are some folks who object to anything trans related, or even just trans adjacent, so I wonder if something like that was going on.
But I’ll never know so I guess I’m just happy that my new and most personal book now has six 5 Star ratings and two lovely reader reviews.
