Some thoughts on my latest novel

At the risk of over sharing, I wanted to muse aloud about my latest novel, Shadowland: A Transgender Tale.

The twin major plot elements of Shadowland have been in the news constantly while I was writing this book, that is, the abrupt emergence of AI and the growing Republican pogrom against trans people.

I am struck by a recurrent criticism offered by some readers of my earlier books, namely my critical view of conservatives and evangelicals for their anti-trans bigotry and hatred. Some readers did not care to have these elements in my stories and whined about it on Amazon.

It was a little astonishing, honestly, that some readers of fiction clearly labelled as “a transgender tale” could have an interest in such material and yet not see the obvious fascistic hatred of those on the Right who routinely disparage and defame us and who, through shameless and conniving politicians, now seek to legislate trans people out of existence.

So here’s a warning. If you support these modern day anti-trans Nazis, please don’t buy my books. I don’t want your fucking money.

In my books you will find only aggravating truth about our enemies. Especially in my latest book.

Woody Guthrie once put on his guitar a sign that said “This machine kills fascists”.

That goes double for my books.
